Investing Blue

Are you tired of looking for good investments and finding that all that company executives and fund managers are concerned with is making money? Are you the kind of investor who says, “Sure, I want my capital to appreciate, but I also want to give a larger portion of it to the government”? Well, progressive investors, have no fear. Blue Investment Management has filed for SEC approval of its new Blue Fund.

There is no word on exactly what companies will be included in the fund – although CNNMoney.com lists a few of them – but all of the companies are said to “give blue” and “act blue”. All allegedly seek to promote “environmental sustainability, responsible corporate governance, active community participation, avoidance of products that cause great social harm, including tobacco and firearms, fair treatment of employees, diversity in leadership and in the workplace, and respect for human rights at home and abroad.” Oh, and the top three company executives need to have given the majority of their political contributions to the DNC or Democratic PACs in recent elections.

I really can’t wait to see how this one performs. Because the list of all represented corporations has not yet been released, past performance can’t be judged, and I haven’t heard too much in the way of expectations at this point; however, Chuck Jaffe of MarketWatch.com has anointed the fund as his “Stupid Investment of the Week”. I guess we’ll see.

While Congress has it’s collective panties in a bunch over the FBI’s search of Rep. William Jefferson’s (D-LA) office a couple of weeks ago, the American people have an entirely different opinion.  According to a recent poll, a whopping 86% of people agreed that the FBI acted appropriately.  When was the last time that a political poll revealed such a large proportion of the public in agreement?
