Chicago
I have been in Chicago this week to attend ProMat 2007, and below are a list of the observations I have made on this trip.
- As the Illinois DOT recommends, avoid the Dan Ryan. This time I took the Skyway to Stony Island Ave. up to Lake Shore Drive. $3.15 in tolls (from I-65), but it was quick and easy. It took me forever to get to I-55 when I came up the Ryan this summer.
- There was a lot of interesting technology at the ProMat show, but just about all of it is way too expensive to cost-justify. I guess that makes the whole trip a wash.
- I highly recommend Brazzaz if you have the chance to eat there. You can consume an unlimited amount of any of the 18 different types of meat that they serve. I actually had difficulty keeping up with the servers bringing meat. Don’t even bother going to the salad bar. This was, however, probably the most expensive single meal I have eaten – $48.50 for the meal; 2 glasses of pop, taxes, and tip brought it up to $70. That may not sound like an impressive sum to everyone, but I’m a poor boy from the sticks.
